How to Make a Waterfall Bong
Waterfall bongs can be made from any number of plastic bottles, be it a soda bottle, water bottle or even a Gatorade bottle. The only thing that you need to add to the bottle is something to act as a bowl, stocking pipe or cone.
Depending on the type of bowl you are using, you may require some duct tape to help secure it in place, otherwise the duct tape could be used to help seal the drainage hole if you need help with blocking the hole yourself.
Everything you’ll need:
- A bong smoking bowl
- Duct tape or electrical tape
- A bottle with a cap
- A sharp and pointy implement or a drill
- A lighter, or a hemp wick
Step 1) Attach the Bowl
Giving direction on how to attach the bowl to the cap can be rather difficult for us to do as this will be highly dependent on the type of bowl you are using. Ultimately, what you need to do, is make sure that the bowl is tightly affixed to the cap, while sticking through it. The opening of the bowl needs to be facing up, with the base of the bowl sitting below the cap. When the cap is put back on, you want the smoke coming out of the base of the bowl to be trapped inside the bottle.
Step 2) Peirce the Bottle
Using the sharp pointy implement you need to pierce the bottle near its base. The lower the hole will be, the more water will drain out and the more smoke that can be pulled into the bottle.
If you are using a tool like a pair of scissors or an ice pick, try heating up the tip to make it easier for the blade to punch through the bottle. If you are using a drill, make sure to keep your hands clear of the sharp drill bit.
The size of the hole needs to be big enough to let the water out quickly, yet small enough for your finger to be able to seal it. For larger soda bottles, you may want to consider using two holes to help better regulate the water flow.
Step 3) Packing the Bowl and Filling the Bottle
Before filling your bottle with water, we would suggest packing your bowl first. This way you can avoid getting your stash wet, and allows you to seal the hole(s) with your fingers.
If you are going to be sealing the hole(s) with the tape, do so before filling the bottle with water. Do not fill the bottle all the way to the top, it is better to leave a small air pocket.
Step 4) Attach the Cap, Light Your Stash and Drain the Water
Before releasing the the water, attach the cap and light your stash. You will want to make sure that you have set light to your stash before letting the water out. This way you will be able to ensure that you can draw in as much smoke into the bottle as possible.
Step 5) Take a Deep Breath
As the water is drained out, you will be able to see the bottle fill with smoke. The smoke will not mix with the water and will be drawn down deeper and deeper as the bottle empties.
Once the water has been fully drained, remove the cap and inhale the smoke. You don’t want to be sucking on the bottle as if you are trying to drink from a straw, just place your mouth against the opening and inhale deeply.
As a side not; some people do find that using a waterfall bong can be more potent. So if this is your first time trying this sort of bong, beware that it can have a strong hit.
