In short, no not every unit size of weed is sold for the same price. Quality and strain has a huge impact on how much a unit size could cost you, or how much weed would be in it.

Shake, or the leftover crumbs as some people call it is less desirable than whole buds. This means that you could theoretically get more of your favorite strain for less, by accepting shake over whole buds.

When it comes to weighing up small quantities of weed, grams are used to determine how much weed is in a dime bag, the smallest of the unit sizes. Each dime bag weighs only about 0.5-2 grams each. Trying to measure out such a small amount can be hard to accurately do with scales that are set in ounces. This is why you’ll find that grams are used when weighing up dime bags, or joints.
Just how much weed that you would actually receive varies, as dime bags are the only unit measurement size that has a set value. Depending on where you live, dime bags could sell for as little as $10.00 each. Since each strain of marijuana holds a different value, you can get more of the lower quality strains for $10.00, than what you could for the higher quality strains.
One thing to note is that not many dispensaries sell dime bags themselves. They might sell loose joint fills instead, and you might be able to purchase $10.00 worth of this cannabis to roll your own joints. Some dispensaries sell prerolled joints instead, but due to labor costs, you will be getting less than $10.00 worth of material in these particular joints.
How Much Weed is in an Eighth?
An eighth of weed, or one-eighth, is just like it sounds, it’s an 1/8 of an ounce worth of weed. This is approximately 3.5 grams and can sell for between $15.00 and $50.00 depending on the quality or strain of the weed you are buying
One Eighth is more than enough to last most people a week or more. This enables them to only need to attend their local dispensary once a week or so. If you are a heavy user, use cannabis to cook with, or are looking to share the cost with friends, there are more options for you to choose from.
How Much Weed is in a Quarter?
A quarter of weed, or a Q, is a 1/4 of an ounce worth of weed. This equals to about 7 grams and can cost you between $25.00 and $70.00, again depending on the strain and quality of weed you are purchasing.
At this unit size, you can start saving even more money. Like we mentioned earlier, if you don’t mind shake, you could get a quarter of an ounce worth of your favorite strain as shake, for almost half the price.
Keep in mind, however, that if you are unable to finish your supply before your stash starts to mold over; it would ultimately be a waste of your money to buy a quarter of weed at a time. How Much Weed is in an Ounce?
An Ounce is 1 oz of weed or 28 grams. Sometimes its called an “O”, other times it might be known as a “zip” which comes from how cannabis use to be sold in full zip-lock bags.
The cost of an ounce can be as little as $70.00, right up to $180. Due to limited stock, you may not be able to get all of your favorite strains in ounces without first placing an order with your supplier.

Secondly only use suppliers you can trust. Ask around and listen to feedback from your friends and family. If you know someone that’s already been ripped off by a supplier or has had problems in dealing with them, look for someone else to source your weed from.
Also make sure that if you are buying from a dispensary, that you are allowed to leave with what you buy. In some areas, there are dispensaries that are only licensed to serve cannabis for onsite consumption, much like how there are bars that can’t permit you to take open alcohol offsite.
